A prestigious law firm in Austin, TX is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Criminal Defense Associate Attorney. The Criminal Defense Associate Attorney will work closely with the firm's lead attorneys and legal support staff, managing their caseloads, interacting with clients, and contributing to case strategies.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to clients on their rights and assist in drafting legal documents related to their cases.
  • Represent clients at pretrial hearings and advise them on strategies following each hearing.
  • Oversee court appearances, trials, motions drafting, witness interviews, and legal research.
  • Evaluate potential outcomes of cases based on legal precedents and case specifics.
  • Manage a varied and complex caseload, ensuring all tasks are completed promptly.
  • Offer in-depth legal analysis to clients regarding case benefits and potential outcomes.
  • Gather and assess evidence to strengthen client positions or counter the prosecution’s case.
  • Prepare clients for depositions, establish case goals, and gather relevant testimony from witnesses and experts.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in criminal defense law.
  • Proven experience in handling complex criminal cases at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team of legal professionals.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a client-focused approach.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive client interactions professionally.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in the state of Texas.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in Texas (mandatory).

Skills:

  • Criminal defense experience, particularly in litigation and trial work.
  • Expertise in legal research, document drafting, and case preparation.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess case outcomes and devise effective strategies.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload efficiently while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in legal software and case management tools.
