Commercial Real Estate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm located in Wheaton, IL, is currently seeking a Commercial Real Estate Attorney with at least 5 years of broad commercial real estate experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling various aspects of real estate transactions, including drafting and negotiating contracts and leases, retail development projects, acquisitions and dispositions, financing transactions, and more. Duties:

• Draft and negotiate real estate contracts and leases for all real estate asset classes.
• Manage all aspects of retail development projects for developers, including entitlement work.
• Close commercial acquisitions and dispositions.
• Perform due diligence, title, and survey review, and negotiate and close financing transactions.
• Provide legal counsel and representation on zoning/entitlements, construction, and loan documentation matters.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 5 years of broad commercial real estate experience, including acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, zoning/entitlements, construction, and loan documentation.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to articulate legal concepts effectively.
• A personable and professional demeanor.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Illinois State Bar (or eligibility for admission via reciprocity).

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the state of Illinois.
