Location:

Duties:

  • Represent clients in state and local tax matters, including audit defense and litigation

  • Provide advice and guidance on complex business restructuring and tax planning

  • Assist clients in navigating legislative developments and offering legislative guidance

  • Engage in consulting projects related to state and local tax issues

  • Draft legal documents, such as briefs, memoranda, and other reports related to tax matters

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop strategies and solutions

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on state and local tax law issues

Requirements:

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in State and Local Tax law

  • Strong law school academic credentials

  • Relevant law firm or government experience in tax law

  • Proven experience in audit defense and litigation

  • Ability to handle complex business restructuring and tax planning matters

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong legal research and analytical abilities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in a state bar (preferably in Washington D.C. or ability to become licensed in D.C.)

Skills:

  • Knowledge of state and local tax law

  • Expertise in audit defense and tax litigation

  • Strong research, analytical, and drafting skills

  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
