A law firm in Joliet, IL, is seeking a Worker's Compensation Associate Attorney with 2-3 years of experience in a law firm workers' comp environment. The candidate must be licensed in Indiana or Illinois and demonstrate exceptional analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. The role involves managing a large volume of files, meeting strict deadlines, and handling cases from inception through trial preparation.

 

Duties:

  • Manage a large volume of worker's compensation files
  • Meet strict deadlines while maintaining high-quality work
  • Handle cases from inception through discovery and trial preparation
  • Take depositions of claimants, witnesses, physicians, and other parties
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, opinions, appeals, contracts, and other legal documents
  • Gather evidence and obtain medical records for trial
  • Remain current with developments in worker's compensation law
  • Litigate cases before the workers' compensation division
  • Negotiate legal contract terms on behalf of clients
  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses
  • Support existing and new clients
  • Stay up-to-date with State and Federal rules and regulations

 

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed in Indiana or Illinois
  • 2-3 years of experience in a law firm worker's comp environment
  • Experience with personal injury law is a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of State and Federal rules and regulations

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • License to practice law in Indiana or Illinois
