A law firm seeks a skilled Debt Finance Associate to join its team in Houston. This is a fantastic opportunity for an attorney with 3-6 years of experience in structuring, negotiating, and documenting both secured and unsecured financing transactions. The ideal candidate will have a background in debt financing, including senior secured, mezzanine, and subordinated debt, as well as acquisition financings and loan restructurings. Experience in leveraged finance, especially in mergers and acquisitions, is highly preferred. This position offers a chance to work with a prestigious clientele, including private equity funds, and focus on complex financing matters.

Duties:

  • Structure, negotiate, and document a variety of secured and unsecured financing transactions for both borrowers and lenders.
  • Manage senior secured, mezzanine, and subordinated debt transactions, including acquisition financings.
  • Work on loan workouts and restructurings, advising clients on effective strategies and legal options.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives and provide tailored legal solutions.
  • Support junior associates and assist with team development through mentorship and training.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and engage in a dynamic legal environment, contributing to strategic initiatives.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in debt finance, with a strong focus on financing transactions, loan restructurings, and debt structuring.
  • Experience in leveraged finance, particularly in mergers and acquisitions, is preferred.
  • Expertise in representing both borrowers and lenders in various financing contexts.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex financing transactions.
  • Proven track record of client service, with the ability to maintain and develop strong client relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Exceptional academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the relevant state bar (Texas) or eligibility to gain admission promptly.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload.
  • Expertise in structuring and negotiating financing transactions.
