Associate Attorney needed for New York office

Job Overview:
A well-established defense litigation law firm is seeking an experienced attorney to join its team as an Experienced Litigation Associate. This full-time position is focused on insurance and civil defense litigation, including general liability, premises liability, construction accidents, Child Victims Act cases, Labor Law, and more. The ideal candidate will have 4-10 years of experience handling litigation matters from inception through resolution. A background in criminal law or prosecution is a plus, as the firm's leadership values the skillset developed in public service. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage a diverse caseload and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Location:

• New York, NY

Duties:

• Handle matters from inception to conclusion, including general liability defense, premises liability, construction accidents, Child Victims Act cases, Labor Law, slip/trip falls, and auto/municipal transportation liability
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery demands/responses
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Appear in court and handle verbal and written communication with clients
• Engage in settlement negotiations and provide cost/benefit analysis for clients
• Participate in trials and appellate advocacy
• Participate in ADR/mediations as needed
• Utilize MS Teams, Zoom, and other video conferencing platforms for meetings and court appearances

Requirements:

• 4 to 10 years of experience in civil defense litigation
• JD from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice in New York State and admitted to SDNY and EDNY
• Trial experience preferred
• Familiarity with New York State and federal court rules
• Experience with MS Teams, Zoom, and video conferencing platforms
• New Jersey admission is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Education:

• JD from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in New York State
• Admitted to SDNY and EDNY (New Jersey admission is a plus)
