Job Overview:

Location:

Duties:

  • Explain complex immigration concepts and provide strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Manage and maintain a substantial caseload, ensuring efficient case progression.
  • Conduct intake meetings with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and review various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes to immigration laws.
  • Provide strategic consultations to potential clients and develop appropriate legal strategies.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to identify potential benefits and case strategies.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward efficiently.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with case management software preferred.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Strong team player, open to strategizing and collaborating with fellow attorneys.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Florida State Bar (or ability to become licensed in Florida).

Skills:

  • Expertise in various immigration law matters, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and USCIS applications.
  • Strong legal writing and analytical skills for preparing briefs and legal documents.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle a high caseload.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with other legal professionals.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
