A law firm in Arlington Heights, IL is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law, excellent communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to develop empathy through life experiences or legal practice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Advise clients on legal rights and obligations, providing tailored legal strategies.
  • Attend court hearings, trials, and mediations, advocating on behalf of clients.
  • Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements.
  • Maintain detailed case files and ensure all documentation is up-to-date.

  • Participate in firm meetings and contribute to business development initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical, in-the-trenches family legal work or 5+ years of life experience developing strong empathy skills.
  • Proven experience in handling family law cases from inception to resolution.
  • Strong understanding of family law statutes, regulations, and case law.
