Job Overview:
A rapidly growing civil litigation law firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Attorney to join its General Liability team in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of civil litigation experience, with a focus on construction law. Location:

  • Atlanta, GA

Duties:

  • Review files and conduct legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
  • Perform extensive legal research and draft briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
  • Represent clients in court, at arbitrations, and during depositions.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests.
  • Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
  • Assist with trial preparation and attend trials.
  • Participate in negotiations and mediations.
  • Maintain an annual billable hour requirement of 1,950 hours.
  • Some travel may be required for court appearances and depositions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of civil litigation experience, with an emphasis on construction law.
  • Experience handling civil cases from beginning to end, including trial preparation and representation.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions, including 30(b)(6) and expert depositions.
  • Strong background in drafting and arguing substantive motions, attending hearings, and participating in trials.
  • Experience with negotiations and mediations.
  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Admitted to practice in the state of Georgia (admission in additional states is a plus).
  • Superior analytical, problem-solving, research, and writing skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to self-manage and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent client-facing skills and telephone demeanor.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice in Georgia (additional state bar admissions are a plus).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing capabilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work independently.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
