Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Mid-Level/Senior Government Contracts Associate Attorney to join the team. The ideal candidate will provide expert counsel to clients on a wide range of government contract matters, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and maximizing opportunities for clients.

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on government contracts, including statutes, cases, rules, regulations, and contract clauses at the federal, state, municipal, and tribal levels.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate government contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, and related documents.
  • Represent clients in bid protests, contract disputes, and other government contract-related litigation or alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and provide clients with clear and concise legal opinions on complex government contract issues.
  • Advise clients on compliance, including ethics, conflicts of interest, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 5-7 years of experience practicing government contracts law at a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Admission to the District of Columbia Bar, or eligibility to promptly obtain admission.
  • Strong understanding of federal acquisition regulations (FAR), agency-specific regulations, and procurement processes.
  • Demonstrated experience advising clients on a broad range of government contract issues.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with government investigations and audits related to government contracts.
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex legal matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.

Certifications:

  • No specific certifications are required, but any relevant certifications in government contracts law or related fields would be beneficial.
