The ideal candidate will have a strong background in crafting comprehensive estate plans and guiding individuals and families through sensitive, often complex, financial matters. This role offers an opportunity to work alongside a dedicated group of professionals skilled in both estate administration and trust litigation, providing holistic legal services to clients facing a wide range of personal and financial challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and implementation of tailored estate planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners.
  • Offer counsel on matters related to wills, trusts, and asset distribution, while considering both immediate and long-term objectives of clients.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their personal goals, navigating delicate family dynamics to develop solutions that align with their unique circumstances.
  • Review and update existing estate plans to ensure compliance with changing laws and tax regulations.
  • Provide expert legal guidance on the administration of estates, including the interpretation of wills and trusts.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering advice on strategies to minimize tax liabilities, protect assets, and ensure smooth transfer of wealth.
  • Lead complex trust and estate litigation matters when required, working in collaboration with other legal professionals.
  • Mentor and provide leadership to junior attorneys and support staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
  • Maintain a high level of client service, ensuring responsiveness and thorough communication throughout the process.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience practicing law, with a focus on estate planning, trusts, and estate administration.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws related to estate and trust matters, including tax implications.
  • Proven track record of managing high-stakes client matters and working on intricate estate planning issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize and build trust with clients navigating sensitive situations.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with a focus on developing team members and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility for reciprocal admission).
  • LLM in Estate Planning or Taxation (preferred, but not required).

  • Proficient in the use of legal research tools, case management software, and document drafting platforms.
