Job Overview:

A law firm in Sacramento, CA, is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to join its growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with a passion for immigration law and a desire to make a meaningful impact by providing exceptional legal services. As an Associate Attorney, you will play a key role in handling complex immigration cases, working directly with clients, and collaborating with a team of skilled legal professionals.

Duties:

• Provide strategic legal advice and representation for clients in immigration-related matters.
• Represent clients in both non-detained and detained removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
• Manage and prioritize a diverse caseload of immigration matters.
• Conduct intake meetings and consultations with detained individuals in detention centers.
• Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
• Review, revise, and submit immigration applications and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay updated on immigration law changes.
• Meet with potential clients to assess their immigration needs and develop effective legal strategies.
• Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
• Provide legal analysis and counsel to clients, identifying potential case benefits.
• Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

• 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
• Proven ability to manage a caseload effectively.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience handling Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian applications, EOIR cases, Detained matters, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS filings.
• Prior experience working with case management software is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Admission to the Bar in California (preferred) or another jurisdiction.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in California (preferred) or another state.
