Job Overview:
A law firm based in New Orleans, LA, is seeking a skilled and motivated Workers' Compensation Attorney to assist with workers' compensation cases under the guidance of a senior attorney with over 20 years of experience. This role involves various legal tasks, including research, preparation of legal documents, client interaction, and trial support. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills and have a proven track record of handling complex legal matters.

Duties:

• Assist with workers' compensation cases, working closely with a senior attorney to provide effective legal representation.
• Conduct thorough legal research and prepare detailed responses to discovery requests.
• Defend client depositions and prepare, argue, and manage dispositive motions.
• Participate as second chair at trials, supporting the senior attorney in all trial preparation and proceedings.
• Maintain and organize client files to ensure all documentation is up-to-date and readily accessible.
• Identify and adhere to internal and court-imposed deadlines to ensure timely case progression.
• Interact with clients to collect necessary facts and documents, giving them confidence in their legal representation.
• Create and review legal documents, including correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and settlement agreements.
• Attend court hearings and other legal proceedings, providing legal advice and support as needed.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to address client needs and contribute to the growth of the client base.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Successful completion of the State Bar exam.
• Member in good standing with the American Bar Association (ABA).
• Minimum of 20+ years of experience in the legal field, focusing on workers' compensation.
• Experience with LHWCA (Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act) and Social Security cases is a plus.
