Job Title: Immigration Attorney

Job Overview
A law firm based in San Jose, CA is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their growing team. Duties

  • Provide expert legal counsel on a variety of immigration matters, offering strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), handling both detained and non-detained cases.
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring all cases are moving forward in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and other USCIS applications.
  • Review, analyze, and revise immigration applications and supporting documentation as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to stay updated on changes in immigration laws and regulations.
  • Meet with potential clients to discuss their cases, offer strategic guidance, and recommend the appropriate legal course of action.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS interviews.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements

  • At least 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both with clients and within a team environment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, EOIR, Legal Writing, Detained Clients, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the state of California.
