A law firm seeks a highly experienced Litigation Attorney to join its legal team in Richardson, Texas. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with a passion for complex litigation and an interest in municipal law. The successful candidate will have the chance to work on challenging cases, provide strategic legal analysis, and manage a diverse caseload in both state and federal court settings.

Duties

  • Independently manage a full litigation caseload from inception to resolution.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys and partners on various legal projects.
  • Conduct court appearances, depositions, and hearings as required.
  • Regularly communicate with clients and provide detailed status updates.
  • Perform high-level legal research using Westlaw and other platforms to address procedural and strategic matters.
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, and discovery documents with attention to procedural accuracy.
  • Prepare detailed procedural roadmaps to guide the team through court filings, highlighting deadlines, and ensuring compliance with court rules.
  • Oversee litigation deadlines, manage calendars, and ensure timely submission of legal documents.
  • Manage court services tasks, including retrieving court documents from electronic and paper databases, and coordinating with process servers for document delivery.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience as a practicing litigation attorney, or experience in a city or county government court environment.
  • Strong trial experience and trial preparation skills are a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior organizational abilities, with attention to detail in managing litigation deadlines and court procedures.
  • Proficiency in Westlaw or other legal research tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar admission in the state of Texas.

Skills

  • Expertise in litigation strategies, including procedural rules and court filing protocols.
  • Strong legal research skills, with the ability to provide high-level strategic insights.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple moving parts within complex cases.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while handling individual casework.
