Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in the biotech and life sciences fields.
  • Perform intellectual property (IP) due diligence and freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses.
  • Collaborate with clients and attorneys to address patent-related issues and provide strategic guidance.
  • Prepare and file responses to office actions, appeals, and other official correspondence with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Review scientific literature and patent databases to support application preparation and prosecution.
  • Contribute to IP portfolio management and strategic planning.
  • Assist with patent litigation and licensing activities as needed.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related discipline.
  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • At least 3 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Experience in a law firm environment is desirable.
  • Experience with IP due diligence and FTO analyses is a plus.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
