This role presents an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about advocating for students with disabilities and navigating the complexities of Special Education law. The successful candidate will provide legal guidance to public school districts on Special Education matters, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and making a meaningful impact on the education community.

Duties

• Provide legal advice to public school districts on Special Education issues, including compliance with IEPs, due process hearings, and relevant legislation.
• Represent school districts at hearings and in dispute resolution processes.
• Draft and review policies, procedures, and documents related to Special Education services.
• Counsel clients on complex legal matters related to the rights of students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with educational administrators to develop strategies for legal compliance and student advocacy.
• Stay updated on changes to Special Education laws and regulations, ensuring ongoing compliance and risk management.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on Special Education law.
• A strong understanding of public school districts and their legal obligations under state and federal law.
• Proven experience in handling IEPs, due process hearings, and related legal matters.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual responsibilities.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the California State Bar.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in California (required).
