Job Overview
A national law firm is seeking an experienced associate with at least 4 years of expertise in international estate planning to join its highly regarded Private Client Department (PCD). The successful candidate will work with high-net-worth individuals and multinational families, advising on cross-border estate and tax planning matters. This role offers flexibility, including a hybrid in-office/remote work schedule.

Duties

  • Provide sophisticated international estate planning advice to high-net-worth individuals, multinational families, and businesses.
  • Advise U.S. and non-U.S. taxpayers on wealth management structures that comply with multi-jurisdictional tax and legal frameworks.
  • Offer guidance on issues such as foreign trusts, pre-immigration and expatriation planning, U.S. property acquisition by non-U.S. persons, and tax compliance for clients with foreign assets.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including corporate, tax, and transactional lawyers, to deliver comprehensive legal services.
  • Manage client relationships with a focus on exceptional client service and practical problem-solving.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in international estate planning, with demonstrated expertise in sophisticated cross-border tax and estate planning.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to advocate effectively for clients.
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and creative thinking for complex international issues.
  • Ability to maintain the highest standards of professional and client service.
  • Member in good standing of the bar in the jurisdiction where you plan to practice.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Bar in the jurisdiction where the position will be based.

  • Expertise in international tax and estate planning, particularly for high-net-worth individuals and multinational families.
  • Proficient in advising on cross-border wealth management and tax compliance.
  • Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise legal advice.
