Job Overview: A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Commercial and Complex Litigation team. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of experience handling defense matters related to wage and hour litigation, with a focus on class actions. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging cases involving wage and hour disputes while managing client relationships and driving litigation strategies.

Duties:

  • Defend wage and hour litigation cases, with a focus on class actions
  • Provide legal counsel regarding California and federal wage and hour laws, including overtime, meal, and rest period regulations
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery with minimal supervision
  • Conduct depositions and handle motion work related to discovery issues
  • Develop and execute discovery plans
  • Draft and oppose motions for class certification in wage and hour cases
  • Collaborate with clients to provide professional and strategic legal guidance
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients throughout the litigation process

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in wage and hour litigation, preferably with class actions
  • Strong understanding of California and federal wage and hour laws
  • Proven experience handling discovery and drafting discovery plans
  • Deposition experience and discovery-related motion work
  • Excellent legal writing skills, especially in opposing class certification motions
  • Ability to manage and maintain professional client relationships
  • Strong communication and follow-through skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of California
