Job Overview:

A boutique immigration law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Immigration Attorney to join their team in White Plains, New York. The role focuses on family, humanitarian, removal, and naturalization cases, providing legal representation to individuals and businesses both domestically and internationally. The attorney will also periodically meet with clients at an additional office location in Queens, New York.

Location:

  • White Plains, New York

Duties:

  • Conduct client consultations on immigration-related matters.
  • Prepare legal memorandums and briefs for complex cases before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Board of Immigration Appeals, and Immigration Court.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings.
  • Attend USCIS interviews and immigration court hearings.
  • Perform case assessments and determine legal strategies.
  • Coordinate case management with paralegals and legal assistants.

Types of Cases:

  • Family petitions
  • Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) petitions
  • U visa applications
  • Removal of conditions petitions
  • Waivers (I-601, I-601A, and I-212)
  • Motions to Reopen/Appeal
  • Requests for Evidence (RFEs)
  • Naturalization
  • Removal Defense

Requirements:

  • Active Bar license (any state).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Strong research and legal writing skills.
  • Client-centered approach with excellent advocacy and leadership abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. state.

Skills:

  • Expertise in immigration law, including family petitions, waivers, and removal defense.
  • Strong communication and client consultation skills.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and collaborate with legal support staff.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
