A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in tax-qualified plans and comprehensive knowledge across various benefits areas, including health and welfare, securities, executive compensation, and M&A transactions. Superior academic credentials and exceptional research, writing, and oral communication skills are required. The candidate must be licensed and in good standing in Illinois.

Job Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel on a wide range of employee benefits and executive compensation matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents related to employee benefit plans, including plan documents, trust agreements, and executive compensation arrangements.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex regulatory and compliance issues affecting employee benefits and executive compensation plans.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefit plans, including retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and equity-based compensation plans.
  • Collaborate with clients and colleagues on transactional matters, such as mergers, acquisitions, and corporate reorganizations involving employee benefits issues.
  • Stay informed about developments in employee benefits and executive compensation laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar or eligibility for admission by motion.
  • 5+ years of experience practicing employee benefits and executive compensation law at a reputable law firm or corporate environment.
  • Strong background in tax-qualified plans and familiarity with various areas of benefits.
  • Ability to manage complex legal matters independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Education and Certifications:
