Job Overview:

A law firm located in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a highly motivated Mid-Level Litigation Associate Attorney with a focus on Hatch-Waxman litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, demonstrated law firm experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. A technical degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field is highly preferred. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex litigation matters, including drafting briefs and engaging in all stages of discovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle all phases of Hatch-Waxman litigation, including case management, discovery, and motion practice.
  • Draft legal briefs, motions, and other litigation-related documents with precision and clarity.
  • Participate actively in fact and expert discovery, including depositions, interrogatories, and document production.
  • Assist in developing case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys and clients.
  • Conduct legal research and provide well-founded legal analysis.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide legal counsel on relevant issues.
  • Assist in preparation for trials, hearings, and other litigation proceedings.
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in intellectual property law and other related legal fields.
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses, attend depositions, and engage in oral arguments where necessary.
  • Support and contribute to the firm’s goals for growth and client service excellence.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of litigation experience in Hatch-Waxman or related IP litigation.
  • Proven ability to draft persuasive briefs and engage in effective oral and written advocacy.
  • Experience in all aspects of fact and expert discovery, including working with technical experts.
  • Strong academic credentials from an accredited law school (JD required).
  • Bar admission in North Carolina (or the ability to obtain one).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field.
  • Solid background in intellectual property law, particularly related to pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
  • Experience managing multiple cases simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Superb writing and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Time management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Client-facing skills and the ability to maintain and grow client relationships.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in North Carolina or eligibility to be admitted.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in North Carolina or the ability to become admitted shortly after joining the firm.
