Job Title: Environmental Associate Attorney

Job Location: Denver, CO

Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience to join their team in Denver, CO. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling compliance, permitting, and enforcement matters and be prepared to split their time among these areas. Experience or interest in complex environmental litigation is preferred. The candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of various environmental laws and demonstrate excellent academic credentials, communication skills, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

Duties:

  • Handle compliance, permitting, and enforcement matters in environmental law.
  • Split time effectively among compliance, permitting, and enforcement tasks.
  • Provide legal counsel on environmental regulations and policies.
  • Represent clients in complex environmental litigation.
  • Advise clients on air and water quality, solid and hazardous wastes, cleanup and cost allocation, spills and releases, brownfields redevelopment, and worker health & safety.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Develop and implement environmental compliance strategies for clients.
  • Engage in business development activities to grow the environmental law practice.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide high-quality legal services.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience handling compliance, permitting, and enforcement in environmental law.
  • Knowledge of multiple areas of environmental law, including air and water quality, solid and hazardous wastes, cleanup and cost allocation, spills and releases, brownfields redevelopment, and worker health & safety.
  • Experience or interest in complex environmental litigation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial, team-oriented, and highly motivated to grow the practice and serve clients.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Colorado State Bar or eligibility for admission on motion.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of environmental laws and regulations.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with clients.
  • Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
