The ideal candidate will possess 4-7 years of experience in defending employers against employment-related claims, including single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and ERISA litigation. This role requires occasional in-office presence for meetings, depositions, and court appearances. The successful candidate will have a distinguished academic background, significant litigation experience, and excellent communication skills. Must be licensed to practice law in the U.S.

Duties:

  • Defend employers in litigation involving single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims.
  • Handle ERISA litigation, advising clients on employee benefits and related disputes.
  • Draft, review, and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case strategies and arguments.
  • Represent clients in depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
  • Develop and implement effective case strategies and advise clients on legal options.
  • Manage a diverse caseload with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
  • Stay current on developments in labor and employment law to provide informed legal counsel.

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of experience in employment litigation matters.
  • Demonstrated experience defending employers before administrative agencies and in court.
  • Strong academic credentials with a solid understanding of labor and employment law.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the U.S.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the state of Michigan or eligibility to obtain admission.
