Job Title: Immigration and Family Law Attorney
Job Location: Washington, DC

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced Immigration and Family Law Attorney to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on deportation defense and family law matters, particularly cases that involve family-based immigration, humanitarian relief, and other related legal areas. Opportunities for involvement in other practice areas, including criminal defense, are available for candidates with relevant expertise and interest. The position may also involve occasional travel to different locations for in-person court hearings, though most hearings are now conducted remotely.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal representation in deportation defense and family law matters.
  • Assist in handling family-based immigration cases, including VAWA, T-Visas, U-Visas, SIJS, and family petitions.
  • Represent clients in Family Court and Immigration Court, with potential for travel to locations such as Charlotte, NC, and Atlanta, GA.
  • Support the firm’s existing caseload and collaborate with the team on various legal cases.
  • Engage in discussions about expanding practice areas such as criminal defense if relevant experience exists.

Requirements:

  • Active law license and eligibility to practice in Washington, DC.
  • The ability to represent clients in Family Court is required.
  • Previous experience in immigration law, family law, and/or criminal defense is preferred.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus, though not mandatory.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Bar membership in Washington, DC (or eligibility to waive in).
  • South Carolina Bar license (or eligibility to waive into SC) is strongly preferred for Family Court representation.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of immigration law and family law practices.
  • Ability to manage caseload efficiently while maintaining a client-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication and legal writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality legal service.

  • Washington, DC (in-person work required).
