A law firm in Purchase, NY is seeking a Defense Associate Attorney with 1-5 years of litigation experience in bodily injury, premises liability, automobile liability, wrongful death, or product defect. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing their own caseload with oversight from partners, and will possess superior analytical and communication skills. Admission to the New York State Bar is required, with Connecticut admission being a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee own caseload with guidance from partners.
  • Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
  • Conduct legal research and write detailed memorandums.
  • Attend and represent clients at hearings and court conferences.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, including preparation and witness questioning.
  • Attend inspections related to cases.
  • Consult with expert witnesses to support case strategies.
  • Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
  • Prepare for and participate in trials, including case strategy development and witness preparation.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of litigation experience in bodily injury, premises liability, automobile liability, wrongful death, or product defect.
  • Proven litigation skills with experience managing complex cases.
  • Superior analytical and communication skills.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required (Connecticut Bar admission is a plus).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (Connecticut Bar certification is a plus).

Skills:

  • Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective client representation and court interactions.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
