Job Overview

A prestigious law firm based in New York City, NY, is seeking an experienced International Wealth Planning Associate Attorney to join its Private Client and Tax division. The successful candidate will advise high-net-worth individuals, family businesses, and family offices on fiduciary structures, taxation, governance, and succession planning.

Duties

  • Draft complex wills and trust documents.
  • Guide income and transfer tax regulations affecting non-U.S. residents with U.S. income/assets and U.S. residents with foreign income/assets.
  • Offer pre-immigration and expatriation tax planning advice.
  • Analyze and draft sophisticated wealth planning strategies and documents.
  • Interpret U.S. estate and gift tax rules and grantor trust provisions.
  • Provide insights on income taxation for complex non-U.S. trusts and their beneficiaries.
  • Develop business opportunities through writing, networking, and attending relevant events.
  • Collaborate with global peers and maintain professional networks with private wealth advisors.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Trusts & Estates or Private Client law practice.
  • Strong academic credentials (J.D. required; LL.M. preferred).
  • Active membership with the New York Bar.
  • Exposure to international wealth planning and complex fiduciary structures.
  • Exceptional legal research, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively with strong attention to detail.
  • Collaborative team player mindset.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required.
  • LL.M. in Taxation or a related field is a plus.

Certifications

  • Active membership with the New York State Bar.

Skills

  • Expertise in drafting complex legal documents, including trusts and wills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of U.S. and international tax regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to engage in strategic planning for succession and wealth management.
