Job Overview

A leading U.S.-based law firm is seeking a mid- to senior-level associate attorney to join its nationally recognized Energy, Infrastructure, and Project Finance practice. This role provides the opportunity to represent major industry players in the renewable energy sector, including utilities, independent power producers, financial institutions, and developers. The position offers significant client interaction, responsibility, and the chance to contribute to complex transactions across the lifecycle of energy projects, including development, acquisition, and financing.

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel on renewable energy project development, acquisitions, and financing

  • Draft and negotiate project-related and operational agreements, including:

    • EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) Contracts

    • Supply Agreements

    • Offtake Agreements

    • Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Agreements

  • Draft and negotiate ancillary financing documents related to:

    • Tax equity investments

    • Debt financing transactions

    • Mergers & acquisitions

  • Collaborate closely with clients, legal teams, and third-party advisors

  • Assume ownership of transactions and contribute to strategic decision-making

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the energy sector

  • Background with a nationally recognized law firm or equivalent in-house counsel position

  • Proven experience with renewable energy project development, M&A, or finance transactions

  • Strong command of relevant contract and financing structures

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a top-tier, accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to and good standing with the bar in the state of residence

Skills

  • Advanced legal drafting and negotiation capabilities

  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage complex transactions with minimal oversight

  • Detail-oriented with sound judgment under tight deadlines
