Job OverviewA law firm in Wilmington, DE, is seeking a highly motivated Cyber and Data Privacy Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience in cyber incident response work and/or litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in and awareness of evolving technology, cyber risks, privacy, and data protection issues. The candidate must be a team player committed to excellence and professional growth.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide legal advice and guidance on data protection, privacy laws, and cyber security regulations.Respond to cyber incidents, including data breaches and security threats, by advising clients on legal obligations and response strategies.Conducted risk assessments and developed client data privacy and cybersecurity policies and procedures.Represent clients in litigation related to data privacy and cybersecurity breaches.Stay updated on emerging trends and changes in privacy laws and cyber security regulations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive legal support for clients.Draft, review, and negotiate privacy and data security terms in contracts and agreements.Participate in training and awareness programs to educate clients on best data privacy and cybersecurity practices.Requirements3-6 years of experience in cyber incident response work and litigation.Demonstrated interest and awareness in evolving technology, cyber risks, privacy, and data protection issues.Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Active membership in good standing with the Delaware State Bar or eligibility to become a member.CertificationsCertified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or similar certification preferred.Additional certifications in cybersecurity or data protection are a plus.SkillsIn-depth knowledge of data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.Proficiency in legal research and analysis.Strong organizational and project management skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
