Job Overview
A reputable law firm based in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced In-House Business Contracts Attorney to join their Procurement & Contracts team. This role will primarily focus on negotiating and drafting business contracts, with an emphasis on technology transactions, procurement, and related legal matters. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams and external parties to ensure business objectives are met while mitigating legal and financial risks. Duties

  • Lead the negotiation and drafting of business contracts to align with company goals and policies.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance during contract review and negotiation, identifying key business, financial, and legal risks.
  • Develop creative solutions to mitigate negotiation challenges and ensure business interests are protected.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and legal guidelines throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Draft contracts that address key issues such as payment terms, data security, and dispute resolution.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple contract reviews, ensuring that high-priority matters are addressed promptly.
  • Work with key stakeholders to identify upcoming contract needs for new deals and renewals, aligning legal strategy with business priorities.
  • Assess the risk associated with business transactions and provide proactive recommendations.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the contract negotiation process.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external advisors to resolve complex contractual issues and ensure smooth contract execution.

Requirements

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in business contracts, negotiations, or a related field. Experience in technology, procurement, software licensing, real estate leases, and professional services agreements is preferred.
  • Familiarity with data privacy and security matters is a plus, though not mandatory.
  • Must be admitted to the Bar and in good standing in the state of employment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Outlook; Excel and PowerPoint skills are a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of business contract principles and practices.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and assess business needs to align with organizational objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex contract issues.
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build strong working relationships with internal teams and external parties.

Education
