Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A law firm in Chicago, IL, seeks a motivated and experienced Litigation Associate Attorney to join its dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will handle multiple legal matters' strategic and procedural aspects at different stages, from initiation through resolution. The firm is looking for a competent attorney who demonstrates professionalism, a strong work ethic, and the ability to produce high-quality legal work while maintaining excellent client relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Handle all phases of litigation, including case analysis, discovery, pleadings, motions, trial, and post-trial matters.
• Manage multiple cases simultaneously at various stages of the litigation process, from inception to resolution.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on case strategy and litigation tactics.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery documents.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials as required.
• Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide strategic legal advice.
• Ensure timely communication with clients, keeping them informed of case progress.
• Supervise junior attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants as necessary.
• Maintain compliance with ethical and professional standards of the legal profession.
• Meet required billing and time-tracking targets, ensuring that client services are both high-quality and timely.
• Assist in business development and client generation efforts for the firm.

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Illinois.
• Must maintain active license renewal and meet Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm or through clerking.
• 3-5 years of experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm is strongly preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Graduate from a Top 25 law school or within the top 10% of the graduating class from an accredited law school.
• Participation in the law school’s premier law journal is a plus.

Certifications & Licenses:

• Active Illinois Bar license.
• Must meet all applicable state and local license renewal and CLE requirements.
