Job Overview
A prominent law firm based in Richmond, VA, is seeking a qualified attorney to join its Institutional Response team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with institutions across various sectors, assisting them in addressing sexual and gender-based harassment, protected class discrimination, child protection matters, and regulatory compliance. The position is available at the associate, counsel, or member level, depending on experience.

Duties

  • Conduct investigations related to Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, and other civil rights or criminal laws.
  • Develop and review trauma-informed, fair, and impartial processes for prevention and resolution.
  • Draft and implement written policies, procedures, and educational materials for institutional compliance.
  • Advise institutions on regulatory requirements such as the Clery Act and child protection frameworks.
  • Collaborate with organizations to design systems, policies, and infrastructure to address safety, compliance, and governance.
  • Provide guidance on non-litigation governance and policy-related issues for educational, corporate, and non-profit entities.
  • Travel as needed to meet client and project demands.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience conducting investigations under Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, or similar frameworks.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, including Title IX, the Clery Act, and child protection frameworks.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly organized, analytical, and motivated manner.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the state of Virginia.
