Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dedicated and experienced Immigration Attorney to join its team in White Plains, New York. This position focuses on representing families and businesses nationwide in complex immigration matters. Attorneys will collaborate closely with the legal team to manage diverse cases and provide strategic legal solutions.

Duties

  • Draft memorandums and briefs for cases involving USCIS, the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and EOIR.
  • Evaluate cases to develop legal strategies tailored to client needs.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and legal assistants for effective case management.
  • Conduct in-office and virtual consultations with clients.
  • Represent clients during USCIS interviews and immigration court hearings.
  • Manage a variety of case types, including:
    • Family-based immigration petitions.
    • Humanitarian applications, such as VAWA, U Visas, and Asylum.
    • Removal of Conditions and Waivers (e.g., I-601, I-601A, I-212).
    • Appeals, motions to reopen, and responses to requests for evidence (RFEs).
    • Naturalization and citizenship processes.
    • Removal defense and consular processing matters.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. state.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Strong advocacy skills with a client-focused approach.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills to connect effectively with clients.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in any U.S. state.

Skills

  • Proficiency in preparing legal briefs, motions, and other documentation for immigration matters.
  • Strong knowledge of family, humanitarian, and removal defense immigration cases.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective collaboration within a legal team.
