A law firm seeks a litigation attorney with 3 to 5 years of civil litigation experience to join its Raleigh office. The attorney will primarily defend healthcare professionals in medical malpractice cases, represent them before healthcare boards, and assist with other general litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have strong communication, research, and writing skills, and must be comfortable with frequent travel for client meetings, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.

Duties:

  • Defend healthcare professionals in medical malpractice lawsuits and disciplinary actions before healthcare boards.
  • Assist with various civil litigation matters, including case preparation and courtroom representation.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
  • Attend and actively participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Travel frequently to meet with clients, conduct investigations, and participate in legal proceedings.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop effective case strategies.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in healthcare or medical malpractice defense.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence, strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for client meetings, hearings, and court appearances.
  • Active membership in the North Carolina Bar, or the ability to waive into the NC Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina, or eligible for waiver into the NC Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in civil litigation procedures and practices.
  • Strong legal research and writing capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
