Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a senior-level associate or counsel with 6+ years of law firm experience to join its nationally recognized Affordable Housing team. This team works with for-profit and nonprofit developers, investors, and governmental entities across the country to develop, acquire, construct, finance, operate, and preserve affordable housing projects. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in affordable housing finance, development, and incentives, with a focus on managing transactions from start to finish.

Location:

  • Orlando, FL

Duties:

  • Lead affordable housing development and finance transactions, from structuring to drafting and negotiating transaction documents.

  • Handle all aspects of project management, including conducting due diligence and interacting with clients and opposing parties.

  • Negotiate business and legal issues throughout affordable housing projects.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate various transaction documents.

  • Collaborate with clients, team members, and opposing parties to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Interface with sophisticated clients to provide effective legal counsel.

  • Ensure clear, concise communication (both written and oral) with clients and team members.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of law firm experience focusing on affordable housing transactions, including finance, development, and incentives.

  • Experience handling affordable housing development or finance transactions, including structuring, drafting, and negotiating agreements.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

  • Proven experience in due diligence, project management, and client interaction.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to succeed in a collaborative team environment.

  • Ability to manage complex transactions and provide legal advice to sophisticated clients.

Education:

  • J.D. from a nationally recognized and accredited law school.

  • Strong academic record.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the State Bar in the relevant jurisdiction (TX, OH, or FL depending on location).

Skills:

  • Expertise in affordable housing law, including finance, development, and incentives.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

  • Ability to lead deals and negotiate complex transactions.

  • Effective time management and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
