Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is currently seeking a highly qualified Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney with 5-7 years of experience. The firm is open to candidates from various office locations, with a preference for those in Chicago or Dallas. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in privacy-related litigation and transactional work, particularly with vendor agreements, business customer service contracts, and knowledge of both state and federal privacy laws. This is an excellent opportunity to handle complex matters within an inclusive and dynamic environment.

Location:

  • Milwaukee, WI

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice on privacy and cybersecurity matters
  • Manage privacy-related litigation, including class actions
  • Draft, negotiate, and review vendor and business customer service agreements
  • Lead breach response efforts, risk management, and compliance counseling
  • Stay current with developments in data privacy laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with partners and clients to address privacy and cybersecurity issues
  • Engage in business development and client relations activities
  • Participate in thought leadership and industry events on data privacy and cybersecurity

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Significant litigation experience, particularly in privacy and class action matters
  • Strong background in transactional work, especially in vendor agreements and business contracts
  • Proficiency in state privacy laws (including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA) and biometric/health laws
  • Experience in breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management
  • Admission to the State Bar
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar
  • CIPP/US certification is a plus, but not required

Skills:

  • Expertise in privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations
  • Strong litigation and transactional skills
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation abilities
