Job Overview
A prominent law firm is seeking a highly skilled International Estate Planning Associate or Senior Associate to join its Private Client Practice. This role requires a minimum of 4 years of experience working on international estate planning matters for high-net-worth individuals, families, and businesses. The successful candidate will be expected to manage complex international tax and legal issues and advise clients on wealth management strategies. The position offers flexibility with hybrid in-office and remote work options across multiple office locations.

Duties

  • Advise high-net-worth individuals and families on international estate planning, including cross-border tax issues.
  • Develop and implement wealth management structures addressing multi-jurisdictional legal and tax considerations.
  • Counsel clients on matters related to foreign trusts, pre-immigration and expatriation planning, and compliance with tax obligations for overseas accounts and assets.
  • Assist in planning the purchase of U.S. property by non-U.S. persons, addressing related tax and legal issues.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across various practice areas to provide comprehensive solutions to clients.
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents such as trusts, wills, and estate plans.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing tailored legal advice.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in international estate planning and cross-border taxation.
  • Experience with complex estate planning matters and wealth management strategies for high-net-worth clients.
  • Ability to navigate multi-jurisdictional tax and legal issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, drafting, and advocacy skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Member in good standing of the bar in the jurisdiction where the position is located.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the jurisdiction where the position is based (required).
