The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law and registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), with a preference for candidates holding degrees in computer science, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.
  • Conduct patentability and clearance searches and provide opinions.
  • Counsel clients on patent strategy and portfolio management.
  • Assist with patent litigation and licensing matters as needed.
  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders to understand invention disclosures.
  • Collaborate with inventors and technical experts to prepare patent applications.
  • Stay current with developments in patent law and USPTO procedures.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas or eligibility for admission by waiver.
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO.
  • 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution, preferably with a focus on software patents.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong academic credentials and references demonstrating legal and technical expertise.

 

Preferred Certifications:

Certification as a Patent Attorney by the USPTO preferred.
