Intellectual Property Associate Attorney

A law firm located in Cincinnati, OH, is seeking an Intellectual Property Associate Attorney with a background in Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience in patent preparation and prosecution and should be registered with the USPTO and the State of Ohio Bar. The firm also welcomes applications from registered patent agents. This role involves comprehensive exposure to the intellectual property field, including legal research, application preparation, litigation support, and direct client interaction.

Duties:

• Conduct thorough legal research and stay updated with developments in intellectual property law.
• Prepare and prosecute patent applications in fields related to Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering.
• Evaluate and respond effectively to office actions from the USPTO.
• Participate in client interviews and provide legal advice concerning IP strategy and protection.
• Assist in intellectual property litigation cases, preparing legal documents, and supporting senior attorneys in court proceedings.
• Engage in other projects that require a deep understanding of intellectual property law.
• Collaborate with other team members to enhance client services and firm reputation.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Minimum of one year of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Must be registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Admission to the State of Ohio Bar; registered patent agents will also be considered.
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of the technical fields related to the practice, particularly biochemistry and chemical engineering.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering.

Certifications:

• Registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Licensed to practice in the State of Ohio.
