A law firm seeks an experienced and confident associate attorney to join its family law practice in Bellevue, WA. The firm offers a collaborative environment with the opportunity to work alongside skilled family law attorneys. As an associate, you will manage a caseload, handle client consultations, draft legal documents, and engage in regular communication with support staff. This hybrid position allows for a flexible balance of office and remote work.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and support cases.
  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct consultations with prospective clients and provide timely updates to existing clients.
  • Coordinate with paralegals and support staff for case management and document preparation.
  • Set your calendar, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with clients and colleagues via email and other correspondence.
  • Collaborate with team members in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in family law (candidates with paralegal or law clerk experience will also be considered).
  • Licensed to practice law in Washington State (WSBA member in good standing).
  • Familiarity with Washington State court rules and procedures, specifically for motion practice in King and Pierce counties.
  • Proficient in legal software (e.g., Dropbox, Adobe, MS Office 365, Linx, Odyssey, Family Soft, Amicus Attorney) or ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong writing skills, with attention to detail and clarity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Stable internet and phone access for remote work.
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Washington State.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal writing and research skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative work style.
  • Ability to relate to clients from varied cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.
