A law firm in Charlotte, NC, is seeking an experienced Senior Claims Counsel to manage liability insurance claims. The role requires strong analytical skills, legal expertise, and the ability to develop effective resolution strategies for complex claims.

Job Duties:

  • Investigate, evaluate, and resolve liability insurance claims.
  • Analyze liability, damages, and coverage to develop resolution strategies.
  • Review claim notices, incident reports, correspondence, and investigative documents.
  • Determine coverage and liability exposure for claims.
  • Establish and maintain claim reserves in accordance with company policies.
  • Manage and coordinate litigation activities, including hiring defense counsel and experts.
  • Review draft pleadings, litigation plans, budgets, and invoices.
  • Maintain accurate electronic claim files and document all claim transactions and communications.
  • Travel as needed for mediations and client meetings.
  • Prepare detailed reports for management, clients, and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing with the State Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in handling liability insurance claims.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing.

Skills:

  • Expertise in liability insurance claims investigation and resolution.
  • Legal analysis and coverage determination abilities.
