A law firm seeks a Bio Patent Counseling Associate Attorney in Washington, DC. This role involves providing legal counsel on patent matters within the biotechnology sector.

Job Overview: The Bio Patent Counseling Associate Attorney will provide legal guidance and support to biotech companies and investors in patent-related matters, including portfolio development, life cycle management, non-infringement and invalidity analysis, post-grant proceedings, and IP due diligence. The ideal candidate will have at least 4+ years of patent counseling and prosecution experience and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.

Duties:

  • Provide strategic counsel on international patent portfolio development for biotech companies and investors.
  • Conduct non-infringement and invalidity analysis.
  • Represent clients in post-grant proceedings.
  • Conduct intellectual property due diligence.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve client objectives.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of patent counseling and prosecution experience.
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
  • Experience representing biotech companies and investors.
  • Prior pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline.

Certifications:

  • Must be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of patent law and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
