A law firm seeks a dedicated and motivated Associate Attorney to join its litigation team in Detroit, MI. This position focuses on No-Fault and Negligence litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of experience or be a recent law school graduate who has completed the Bar exam. The successful candidate should be detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills, and be ready to contribute to a busy, fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Handle personal injury protection (PIP) and No-Fault/Negligence litigation matters from inception to resolution.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including complaints, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Participate in the discovery process, including depositions, document review, and written discovery.
  • Represent clients in court hearings and settlement negotiations.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, providing updates and strategic advice.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and assist in trial preparation.
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of litigation experience, with a focus on No-Fault and personal injury protection matters, or a recent law school graduate who has taken the Bar exam.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw is preferred.
  • Must be able to commute to the Detroit office and other locations as needed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Michigan Bar (or pending Bar exam results for recent graduates).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software tools.
