A prestigious law firm is currently seeking a highly motivated Post-Grant Proceedings Associate Attorney to join their dynamic team. This position is based in Washington, DC, and offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge patent litigation matters, focusing on post-grant proceedings such as IPR and PGR. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of post-law school experience and will be involved in both legal and technical aspects of patent disputes. The role involves close collaboration with experts and providing strong oral and written advocacy before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Duties:

  • Analyze patent validity and prior art to support post-grant proceedings

  • Draft IPR/PGR petitions, including legal and technical arguments and briefings

  • Work alongside experts to prepare expert testimony

  • Conduct and defend expert depositions

  • Provide oral advocacy before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB)

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of post-law school experience

  • Strong background in patent litigation, particularly before the PTAB or the USPTO

  • Proficient in patent invalidity analysis and expert testimony preparation

  • Demonstrated ability to provide persuasive legal arguments

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within a team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice in Washington, DC, Massachusetts, or New York (or eligibility for admission)

  • Admission to practice before the USPTO is preferred

Skills:

  • Expertise in patent law and post-grant proceedings

  • Strong research and writing abilities

  • Proficiency in managing complex legal cases

  • Skilled in working with technical experts and handling patent-related depositions

  • Excellent oral advocacy and communication skills
