Job Title: Senior Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm located in Fort Myers, FL, is seeking an experienced Senior Associate Attorney to join their Personal Injury team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 2-5 years of experience in Personal Injury Protection (PIP) litigation to further develop their career in a dynamic and supportive legal environment. The role offers a competitive bonus structure with no caps and the potential for additional discretionary bonuses related to case settlements.

Duties:

  • Handle a caseload of 200-300 PIP lawsuits.
  • Resolve 20 cases per quarter.
  • Assist partners with case strategy, research, and other legal tasks as needed.
  • Manage standard motion practices, including responding to motions to dismiss, answers, affirmative defenses, and motions to compel discovery.
  • Timely respond to discovery requests and file motions for extensions as necessary.
  • Take and defend depositions, including those of corporate representatives and key witnesses.
  • Communicate with partner-level attorneys regarding significant motions, such as motions for sanctions, summary judgment, or 57.105 motions.
  • Gather required information for depositions and evidentiary hearings.
  • Send out settlement offers when appropriate and manage negotiations.
  • Prepare cases for trial, ensuring compliance with all deadlines and discovery requirements.
  • Attend contested hearings and assist in trial preparation, including second or third-chairing trials as necessary.
  • Cover hearings and depositions for other attorneys.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in PIP litigation.
  • Proven track record in managing and resolving complex PIP cases.
  • Strong litigation skills, including motion practice, discovery, and depositions.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team of attorneys.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of trial preparation and the ability to meet critical deadlines.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.

Skills:

  • Litigation skills, particularly in PIP claims.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to effectively handle settlements and negotiations.
