A law firm in New York City is seeking a Labor and Employment Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in labor and employment defense. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment litigation before federal and state courts and government agencies, combined with excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Experience in managing a litigation caseload, including drafting pleadings, position statements, discovery requests/responses, and motions, is required. The candidate must hold a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be a member of the New York State Bar.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in employment litigation before federal and state courts and government agencies.
  • Provide legal counsel on labor and employment matters, including compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Draft and prepare responsive pleadings, position statements, discovery requests/responses, and dispositive motions.
  • Manage a litigation caseload, including overseeing case strategy and development.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case preparation and legal arguments.
  • Collaborate with clients to provide strategic advice and guidance on employment-related issues.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes as necessary.
  • Stay current on changes in labor and employment law to provide informed legal advice.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of labor and employment defense experience.
  • Proven experience in employment litigation, including before federal and state courts and government agencies.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in managing a litigation caseload and handling various stages of litigation.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Member of the New York State Bar.

  • Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents and pleadings.
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities.
