Job Overview
A leading law firm is seeking an associate to join its dynamic Class Actions Litigation team in San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have strong interest in and/or prior exposure to state and federal class action practice, alongside experience in broader commercial litigation. The firm’s class action practice is broad and cross-functional, encompassing areas such as consumer, employment, privacy, antitrust, and securities law. The role provides the opportunity to work on complex and high-profile cases in a collaborative and cutting-edge environment.

Duties

  • Research and draft motions and briefs for class action cases.
  • Participate in all aspects of discovery, including document review, depositions, and witness preparation.
  • Manage cases and client relationships, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
  • Work across various practice areas within class actions, including consumer, employment, privacy, antitrust, and securities.
  • Handle case strategy development and provide litigation support across multiple stages of cases.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members to develop case theories and legal strategies.

Requirements

  • Law school class years 2018 to 2022.
  • Experience or strong interest in state and federal class action litigation.
  • General commercial litigation experience is a plus.
  • District court or appellate court clerkship experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with class action litigation strategy, including motions practice and discovery.

Education

  • J.D. (Juris Doctor) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in California or eligibility to obtain California bar admission promptly.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Experience with class action litigation and commercial litigation.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and contribute to case strategy.
  • Proficient in discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
  • Familiarity with case management and procedural requirements in class action cases.
