Job Overview: A law firm in New York City seeks a highly motivated Entry-Level Chemistry Patent Associate Attorney with 0-3 years of patent prosecution experience. The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., in Chemistry, possess strong academic credentials, and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Duties:

  • Conducting prior art searches and patentability assessments.
  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of medicinal chemistry, small molecules, pharmaceuticals, synthetic methods, polymer science, and drug discovery.
  • Collaborating with inventors, scientists, and legal teams to gather necessary information for patent filings.
  • Analyzing and responding to office actions from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D.) in Chemistry.
  • Strong academic credentials with a focus on relevant coursework.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficient in conducting prior art searches.
  • Ability to draft and prosecute patent applications.
  • Knowledge of medicinal chemistry, small molecules, pharmaceuticals, synthetic methods, polymer science, and drug discovery.
