Job Overview
A prominent personal injury law firm in Topeka, KS, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with at least one year of experience in personal injury law, workers’ compensation, disability, or civil litigation. The position offers the opportunity to manage personal injury cases from pre-litigation through potential litigation, with a focus on providing compassionate and effective legal services.

Duties

  • Manage personal injury caseloads through the pre-litigation process, with potential involvement in litigation.
  • Negotiate with insurance companies on behalf of clients to reach favorable settlements.
  • Maintain and foster positive relationships with clients through clear communication and responsive legal services.
  • Draft legal documents including correspondence, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and settlement agreements.
  • Ensure all legal documents are prepared accurately and comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Supervise non-attorney staff to ensure adherence to legal standards and office protocols.

Requirements

  • Active Bar license in Kansas is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in personal injury law, workers’ compensation, disability, or civil litigation.
  • Preferred: Active Bar license in Missouri.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a legal team and supervise staff.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Kansas (and Missouri, if applicable).

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of personal injury law, workers’ compensation, and civil litigation.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and tech-savvy.
