Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney with a strong background in single plaintiff employment litigation. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience defending harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims, as well as handling matters before state and federal courts. This position provides the opportunity to work on high-profile cases and engage in all stages of litigation, from discovery to trial.

Location:

Duties:

  • Defend single plaintiff harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims in state and federal court.
  • Handle complaints and charges before the CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
  • Provide general employment-related advice and counsel.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests.
  • Conduct and defend depositions.
  • Manage law and motion work, including preparing and responding to dispositive motions, moving to compel arbitration, and addressing discovery-related motions.
  • Prepare case evaluations for clients.
  • Proactively manage cases, ensuring deadlines and strategies are met.
  • Prepare for and attend mediations, including drafting mediation briefs.
  • Attend court hearings and status conferences, and argue dispositive motions.
  • Gain experience in arbitration and trial settings.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience in employment litigation.
  • Strong background in defending single plaintiff harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims.
  • Experience representing clients before the CRD, EEOC, and/or California Labor Commissioner.
  • Proficient in preparing and responding to discovery requests and motions.
  • Skilled in depositions, mediations, and courtroom hearings.
  • Arbitration and trial experience is a plus.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to handle cases proactively and independently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the State of California.

Skills:

  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage a caseload and work independently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.
